Railway published jobs according to groups and qualification, there are four type of group:-
RRB Group A Jobs: Group A posts is conducted by UPSC organization. It is gazetted post group which is appointed through either Civil Service Exam or Engineering Service Exam and Combined Medical Service Examination.
RRB Group B Jobs: In group B, 70% Candidates are selected through a process of primarily based and 30% through a Limited Departmental Competitive Examination as known as LDCE selection test.
RRB Group C Jobs: Mostly, Indian railway used to publish Group C Technical and Non-Technical cadre post with huge vacancies. The required qualification for Group C post is either 12th pass with 50% marks or graduation in any discipline.

- Ticket Collector
- Commercial Apprentice
- Traffic Apprentice
- Engineering posts (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Signal & Telecommunication), etc
RRB Group D Jobs: In this group, railway published jobs for the 8th pass, 10th pass or 10+2 pass vacancies. Following are the posts name which falls in Group D categories:-
- Trackman
- Helper
- Assistant Points Man
- Safaiwala / Safaiwali
- Gunman
